Bio

Lois P. Revlock, 97, died November 12, 2020 in Ambler, PA at her home of 71 years. She was born in Proctor, Montana (a town founded by her pioneer grandfather, a cattle rancher) to the late Ellery Clarence Proctor and Adelaide Durfee Proctor. She attended school in a one-room schoolhouse where her mother taught. She went on to attend college at Kinman and Gonzaga Universities and later the University of Chicago, where she studied business. In her professional life she was an executive secretary for Boeing of Seattle and the Keystone Automobile club (now AAA).

 

In her 40s she became an award-winning watercolor artist, best known for her serene landscapes. She studied with prominent Philadelphia area artists: Howard Watson, Barbara Osterman, William A. Smith, Jacques Fabert, Frank Webb, and Dominic DeStefano. Beginning in 1971, Lois exhibited  widely on the East Coast: New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, and on the West Coast: California, and Vancouver Island, Canada. Her work is in collections in Wilmington Delaware Medical Center; Sierra Madre Library; IBM Executive offices; Philadelphia Price Waterhouse, Philadelphia; United Hospitals, Philadelphia; State Capitol, Harrisburg; and Prudential Life Insurance Company of America Philadelphia; and the Monastery of St. Clare, Spokane, Washington. 

 

Lois was the corresponding secretary of the Philadelphia Watercolor Society and served on the Board for ten years as membership chairman, corresponding secretary, and newsletter editor.  Other art club memberships included Woodmere Art Museum, Chestnut Hill, Doylestown Art League, Oreland Art Center, Perkiomen Valley Art League, Alverthorpe Manor Art Club, Philadelphia Sketch Club, and AURA Association Uniting Religion and Art), Plastic Club of Philadelphia, and Foothill Creative Arts Group, Sierra Madre, CA.

 

Lois was an enthusiastic gardener and a member of the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society. In her home garden she nurtured over 130 azaleas and a variety of other flowering species. Most of her paintings were reflections on her own garden but she also took inspiration from the landscapes of England, Vancouver Island, and the coast of Maine.  

 

Lois was the loving wife of the late Joseph Revlock Senior. She is survived by three children, Joseph Revlock Jr. (Beverly Agard) of Philadelphia, Theo Revlock (Dawn Ma) of San Francisco, California, and Michele Dean (Paul Dean) of Conifer, Colorado; six grandchildren, Gabrielle, Mikhail (Mariel Stadick), Simon, Jeremy, Connor, and Ryan; Two great grandchildren, Jakob and Lukas. Lois is also survived by two brothers, David and James, and predeceased by two sisters, Emily and Margaret and one brother, Conrad.
